HALLOW'S EVE

It didn't fall on a Friday or Saturday, but we guess you could still make the case that this year Halloween fell on a weekend. Hope you had (or are about to have) a happy one!

POCKET SIZED VIDEO

Sam has FINALLY released footage from his much talked about iPod video. It's been in production for awhile now, and almost didn't happen after Sam ran into issues during production (see: his mother ran his iPod through the wash). Anyway, it's done, that's what's important. Here's Alex Kehoe, Alex Hoffman, Chris Jackson, and Dustin Lilly's parts. Yeah Sam! -Worful

Autumn Bowl Update - Closed November 1st (2010)

It's been about two months since our last Autumn Bowl update and we've been skating it as much as possible ever since. Unfortunately the time has come: This weekend will be the last chance keyholders have to skate it - straight from Dave Mimms (owner of Autumn skateshop) himself. Over twenty keyholders recently dropped out (not surprising with all the new bowls/parks in New York these days) halting any future plans to start renting another location.

As for the bowl itself...  it will be transported to Chicago (thankfully not destroyed) and reconstructed inside a skatepark where the last-remaining keyholders can visit and skate it for free! Keyholders should expect an email from Dave sometime soon explaining everything in further detail.

I will never forget walking down that alley (on our way to the first keyholder meeting) and eventually entering one of the coolest indoor skate spots in New York ever! We spent many days and nights there (hot & cold), met so many awesome people and watched some of the raddest skating go down. Gnarliest bathroom, crazy parties, countless stereos, smoke, beers, bricks, dust and 100% skateboarding. A huge THANK YOU to Dave, Vander, Pat, Seth, Rob and all the keholders who helped build and keep the Autumn Bowl alive/maintained for the past seven years!

NORTH BY NORTHEAST

Fellow filmer friend of the north Chris Burt, AKA "Big Burt" (blog banner art by Alex Kehoe), just made a trip out to New York. The spots there look pretty fun, and the bars look pretty flat. I would love to take a trip out there sometime, but if you are like me and have not, just live vicariously through Chris' throwaway montage here. Not only can you fool yourself in believing that you've been to New York, but you can also pretend your life has a soundtrack scored by M. Ward and you can kickflip backlip the blue two stair across the street from JB.

ANOTHER DAY IN PARADISE/PERRYVILLE

Was there an impromptu Pretty/Dude Life mini-tour and demo in Perryville this weekend? Yes, in fact there was. Our own personal Beauty and the Beast if you will. Our brothers up north came down and met us at the park and a fun day was had. We even had a guest skater, Shaun Gregoire! Everyone was killing it, and co-mayors Dave Thomas and Jack Donze seemed pleased. But Jack wanted to put one final touch on the day's session, in the form of a frontside 360 ollie dunk. Perfect. -Worful

RIDING (OVER) THE BENCH

Bobby, Guy, Joel, Randy, Alex, and I had the entire Webster park to ourselves last night. It was glorious. Lots of goofing around ensued, and then Joel got serious with a super popped kickflip over the bench. Woah! After awhile it was time to wind things down with our usual game of S.K.A.T.E. But just then the lights went off, so we took it to the parking lot. But theeeeen we got booted by "the man." Well the cop was a woman actually, and pretty nice about the whole thing, but still. That game will have to be continued some other day. -Worful

Astoria Skatepark - Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Pics (2010)

Steve Rodriguez sent us over a few pics from the Astoria Skatepark ribbon cutting ceremony (10/18/2010). Council member Vallone Jr. and Parks Commissioner Benepe thanked 5Boro for designing the Astoria skatepark. We also would like to thank 5Boro and Who? Skates for creating such an amazing street plaza!

UP AND AT THEM

I picked up Bobby and Guy the other day and we headed to ye ol' Hanley wall, one of my favorite spots. It's also a very hard to skate spot, but we had fun there for sure. Later Bobby got revenge on me in a game of S.K.A.T.E. and then we stuffed our fat faces with Mexican food and prepared to regret it later. -Worful
